Jefferson Center for Mental Health offers placements for 2nd year students at the internship level of a master’s program in counseling, social work, or psychology. Jefferson Center values diversity and encourages people from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds to apply.

The length of placement is typically two academic semesters, with students required to be on-site a minimum of 20 hours per week, primarily during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Interns complete their placement with one treatment team for the entire length of the internship.

All positions, while unpaid, provide quality supervision with a licensed mental health professional (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, Psy.D., or Ph.D.). Students work closely with their supervisor who provides one hour of individual supervision per week. Attendance at team meetings is expected, and, while not required, it is highly recommended that interns participate in group supervision and didactic clinical seminars, as schedules allow.

Applications are accepted beginning March 1, with interviews conducted throughout the spring, and placements typically beginning in late August/early September.
