Jefferson Center’s Management Team leads with a deeply held passion for creating a community where mental health matters and equitable care is accessible to all. The leadership team’s knowledge, drive, and experience come together to help create a workplace culture that supports employee wellbeing and operational excellence through collaboration, a people first approach, strong community partnerships, and innovation.

Lenya Robinson – COO

Lenya is responsible for oversight of Jefferson Center’s day-to-day operations including a number of diverse clinical teams, operations and quality and shares responsibility for the Human Resources Department. She provides executive leadership to the Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Oversight Committee and Consumer Services and Quality Committee, as well as oversees the Center’s compliance program and risk management, and ensures the delivery of quality clinical services under Colorado’s behavioral health regulatory requirements. Her prior leadership roles at the Office of Behavioral Health and the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing position Lenya to understand and navigate the complexities of community mental health. Lenya has more than 25 years of experience providing care to children, adolescents, and adults, specializing in the treatment of trauma. Her experience spans all treatment settings including inpatient hospitals, residential and day treatment programs, outpatient settings, primary care practices and her own private practice. Her experience working in state government as well as community mental health gives her a unique perspective from which to lead the Center’s clinical operations.

David Goff – VP, Administration, CFO

David brings nearly 33 years of financial management experience and expertise to his current role with over 28 of those years at Jefferson Center. David is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. He directs all financial aspects of the business, including accounting practices, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, interface with the financial community, and property acquisitions. David’s expertise and experience in property acquisition and asset management has led to successful and ever expanding affordable and supportive housing models that further the mission of the organization by providing stable housing to our communities. David also serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Front Range Health Partners. David has held various challenging positions as Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, Controller, and Director of Finance, and holds an MBA from Regis University and a BS from Colorado State University.

Brandon Ward – VP, CINO, and Information Systems

Brandon is a dynamic healthcare leader, bringing together deep clinical insight, experience with complex technology solutions, and an innovative and collaborative style – all in the service of transforming behavioral healthcare in Colorado and beyond. After acquiring a doctorate in clinical psychology from Denver University, Dr. Ward worked as a community mental health direct care provider. He quickly recognized how vital the work is to our collective community health as well as how limiting our systems of care could be. Dr. Ward pivoted his career focus to technology innovation to directly address some of the systemic problems he could not address as a provider.  He has been with Jefferson Center since 2020, leading a team of exceptional professionals in this pursuit – partnering within the organization and throughout the community to build robust, secure, and innovative solutions to behavioral healthcare’s toughest challenges. Dr. Ward serves as a key thought leader and recognized expert on a number of local and statewide innovation, health exchange, and technology boards and committees, and has been recognized widely for his thoughtful and innovative approach.

Jessica Dunbar – SPH Chief Business Development Officer

Jessica has over 20 years of experience working in healthcare. She is dedicated to helping people live their best life and supporting the connections between mind, body, and community. She holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Colorado and a BA in Religious Studies and BS in Psychology from Westmont College. Throughout her career, she has dedicated her time and talent to expanding access to care, especially for vulnerable populations, and implementing transformational innovations in the health care sector to improve community health. Prior to joining the Jefferson Center team, she served as the Executive Director of Every Child Pediatrics where she led Colorado’s largest safety net pediatric practice and expanded primary medical, behavioral, dental, and social services across 16 clinics spread throughout Colorado. Earlier in her career she worked on state reform efforts that led to the establishment of Colorado’s health information exchange, now called Contexture, and health insurance exchange, Connect for Health Colorado. Today, Jessica drives the organization’s business development strategy, with an eye towards mission-focused opportunities to expand impact and revenue.

Donald Bechtold – MD, DLFAPA, DFAACAP Chief Medical Officer & VP Healthcare and Integration

Prior to coming to Jefferson Center in 2001, Dr. Bechtold served as faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and as adjunct faculty at the Denver Seminary in the Master of Arts in Counseling program, and as a contract consultant with the Indian Health Service. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine where he also received his post-graduate specialty training in General Psychiatry and his subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Bechtold also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Front Range Health Partners. Dr. Bechtold continues to teach, consult, publish, and present both regionally and nationally.

Kiara Kuenzler – President & CEO

As Jefferson Center’s CEO, Dr. Kuenzler brings a fierce passion and vision for a healthy community. She seeks community partnerships and innovative solutions to meet the growing and diverse needs of the people served and drives excellence and equity in care to promote wellbeing and thriving communities. Dr. Kuenzler is a licensed Psychologist and received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver, followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Colorado Medical School, in Administration and Evaluation Psychology. In addition to her more than 14 years of experience in health care administration, quality, and program evaluation, Dr. Kuenzler spent many years providing direct clinical services and teaching at the University of Colorado, Denver. Her prior leadership role in a managed care organization gives her a wealth of experience in public behavioral health systems, funding and policy. Dr. Kuenzler serves on several local and National Boards, where she lends her expertise and influence to driving behavioral health awareness and systems transformation. Under her leadership, Jefferson Center has undergone unprecedented growth, and has driven a reputation among State and National leaders as a trusted, innovative, and responsive organization. Additionally, Dr. Kuenzler’s commitment to a culture of belonging and creating an organization of engaged, mission-focused, top talent has led to being a Denver Post Top Workplace for 12 years in a row, with Dr. Kuenzler being named as the Top Leader in the Large Employer category in 2021.
