Temporarily Closed – New Vistas is closed temporarily as the program is undergoing a restructure and we plan to reopen our unit as soon as possible, when we can best serve the youth in our community.

Helping Children and Youth in Crisis

At Jefferson Center, our mission is to provide compassionate care and support to children and youth facing mental health crises.

As the only youth Crisis Stabilization Unit in the state of Colorado, we understand the importance of early intervention for youth ages 5 – 18 1/2. Together with youth and their families, we work diligently to improve coping skills, enhance family communication, and ensure a smooth transition back to their home or a community setting.

Admissions

  • Children and youth come to us through two main sources: transported by a parent/caregiver from walk-in centers or via ambulance from emergency rooms. 
  • Within 24 hours of arrival, they receive a comprehensive health and clinical assessment.
  • A treatment plan is them created and updated with daily rounds and a team of professionals to provide the best care possible. 

Our Team

Our number one focus is trauma responsive case and the safety of children and youth. Together, our team to develops coping skills to address issues such as depression, self-injurious behavior, homicidal behavior, or other presenting problems. Family sessions are essential, with a focus on improving family communication and support.

Care and Treatment

  • Education is vital to support the journey. Daily educational program from licensed teachers provide instruction, including Individualized Education Plans to assist in the child or youth’s return to school. 
  • Safety and follow-up are crucial to the discharge process. 
  • Follow-up services are scheduled before discharge and a phone call is made within 24 hours to provide additional support. 
  • The average length of stay is 5 days, where we strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment.
